What is IDOL?

IDOL stands for Integrated Design using OpenGL Library. The project was concieved because there was no good 3-D CAD software for the GNU/LINUX system till now.As the name suggests it uses the OpenGL library(redundancy of library is apologised) for displaying the 3-D graphics. The programs that are developed under this project are distributed under both the GNU Public license and the GPL Public license .

What is it based on?

How can you contribute?

IDOL is meant to be a project that is open .i.e anyone who is interested and has access to requirements is open to the project. But to maintain standards all changes must be e-mailed ( with attachments in zip format of the modified program /new modules ) to

idol@programmer.net

If you are interested.....

Then here is the basic source...............

Click here to download the source

Unzip the file after download to a particular directory. Now edit the makefile for correcting the link libraries of Qt and OpenGL.(in most cases the default makefile works fine. The makefile was desgined to be run on a Red Hat 7.0 LINUX/GNU system with Qt 2.2 and OpenGL installed ).Now make it!

If you have coded some new modules....

First check your code for bugs....Then you must create a documentation for your code so that other programmers can use your interface/code.Also exact documentation for what the code does is appreciated.... If you have done this then mail your idea to the email described above!

Current version of the Program

The program is now at version 0.01.

Its very buggy and unusable for anything right now!

So only developers interested in coding may use the source now!

(ODD versions are unstable as in the LINUX KERNEL)

Here are some links to good OpenGL Tutorials

Happy Coding For IDOL!
