Unless you sample the dozens of different blends that exist, you'll never really find out what 'type' you prefer...But from what you're describing, it sounds as if you're buying the shit off the street, which doesn't provide the best atmosphere for quality testing. If it's golden in coloring, like solidified bacon fat, it should have a definite scent not unlike that of a lawn-mower engine... Very vaporous...If it has an oxidized, copper-blue hue, then it should smell even funkier (hey, who says this shit is good for ya?). Glass, or the hard-textured translucent speed, has the least amount of stink, yet when it comes to quality, there is one test that can pretty much determine how 'clean' it is across the board... The Burn Exam...You say you only snort it? Cool beans, but when it comes to testing speed, a glass pipe works wonders and gives you an immediate signal, which you shouldn't ignore. Good meth heats up clean...Yeah, there will be some light residue, but if the shit starts bubbling up black like one of those Fourth of July snakes kids fire up on sidewalks, the stuff is shit...And like I alluded to above, if you're buying it off the street, or from some Teflon Tweaker who doesn't offer samples, the best tool is yer nose...If you can get a sample, fire it up, and watch...Once you're more familiar with it, you'll be able to discern between gold and fool's gold with yer taste buds...For the time-being, however, use a pipe or a gutted light bulb and a Bic lighter... ==================================================================== From: (Durtro) Subject: Re: What should meth look like? For me personally, I rely on the melting test, a reliable answer once you know what you're looking for...whether it's in a Pyrex pipe, or tin-foil, good crank will smoke evenly, with little 'blackness' or charred residue...Whether the original color of the speed is gold, brown, white, green, etc..., there shouldn't be a bunch of black shit on the glass/foil, like crack always leaves (in a pipe)...There will be a trace outline of yer hit with good crank...not a horrific shit-stain, reeking high-and-wide of cheap vitamins...If you're familiar with crank, smell is at least a good indicator of what you don't want...You might smell some yellow 'chunk' that doesn't pack that much of a punch, but it'll almost always be better than the scent-free crap you see that does absolutely nothing...
