I heard about ]this on a "Dateline"-Like Crap TV Exploitation "News" magazine. Literally, compot (kompot) is a type of fruit drink made by boiling fruit + sugar. It is slang for (you've guessed it) poppy extract (unshootable, contains codeine and a bunch of other crap). Never thought being from russia would be usefull in a.d.h. ] ]This TV program said that they were actually making Heroin. Articles I have ]found on the web say that Kompote (Compote) is just concentrated Poppy ]Extract. These articles are also filled with layers of inaccuracy (such as the ]claim that Methadone was discovered by accident in Germany after WWII. The ]person was thinking of Meperidine, not Methadone, but I digress). ] ]My question is: Does anyone know for sure? Will boiling Poppy Extract with ]distilled Vinegar and Sulfuric Acid until it becomes anhydrous esterify the -OH ]and CH3COOH? ] I'm pretty ignorant in chem, but almost positive the above would give you something along the lines of: 'everythin' that's in the poppy in salt form good luck separating the good from the bad'. As i understand it, an essential step in H manufacture is separating the morphine IN BASE FORM from the extract, and you're not going to basify anything by adding acids to the brew. Tons of FAQs out there for making H from poppy. ==================================================================== From: polvo29633@aol.com (Polvo29633) Subject: Re: Kompot Date: 1997/05/27 Newsgroups: alt.drugs.hard >I thought people _did_ shoot it though (of course, this doesn't >mean its actually shootable.) I once saw a photo-essay on >Kompote use in eastern europe where there were guys sitting >around a bucket of the stuff, dipping their works into it >and shooting their way to oblivion. I dunno about Russia, but I'm originally from Poland and apparently the "kompot"/junk scene has recently become quite a problem... Some of my relatives who live on a farm used to grow poppies for the seed, but were forced to stop due to recent legislation cracking down on all forms of cultivation of opium poppies. As for kompot, I remember my grandfather making comments about how it messes people up, and once or twice he mentioned something about "all those needles," so I assume that people shoot it, whether it is shootable or not....
