What have others used (without, of course, having toxic reactions)? Margerine. I didn't know anyone ever used anything else. Seriously, it works a treat and the seal should prevent any of it getting in with the dope. KY jelly, being water-soluble doesn't actually work well at all. It gets washed away in a blink. ==================================================================== From: Armitage Subject: Re: Lubricating a plunger Date: 1997/01/09 newsgroups: alt.drugs.hard [...] Margerine, Mr McDermot's idea works well but it also excaserbates the problem. The plunger is made of rubber and like radiator hoses, latex condoms and every other real rubber product, deteriorate faster when they come in contact with oils, fats, etc. Until we can get new equipment as needed LEGALY: ROT, if it's safe to use as a lubricant for your condom, it won't eat away at the plunger. Margerine, butter, vegetable oil, mineral oil and hand lotion will shorten the life of your rig :( ! Glycerine is a harmless carbohydrate, a good choice because it is availiable as a clean, allergen free, sterile, otc item. KY is OK to being sterile and readily availiable. Silicone 'dry lubricant' products !really! well, last and they don't damage rubber . Some condoms use these sythetic polymers. They are used hair emolients in the cosmetic industry and silicone oil is used for copiers. Simethicone, the anti-gas stuff in Gaviscon, is a silicone oil. I think it is sold as a single entity drug in soft gels (phasyme?). However, I would be extremely negligent to advise using silicone lubricants for syringes without mentioning the problems that have been reported when silicone, from boob-jobs, leaks into the body. Nasty CFS like symptoms. Not like we need any more foriegn bodies in our bloodstreams. Glycerine seems the safest bet. (ps to keep the rig in operating condition remove the plunger and apply a little glyc when done. Place in small sealed bag Seperate the needle from the body and let the needle (cap'd) and the body soak in 1:10 bleach:water.) Until we can by them at the pharmacy like we should this is all I have to say on this on.
