No. My preference would be for IV, but watch out for those damned itches. :) > What dosage is harmful/fatal? Hard to say. It depends on body weight, tolerance, etc. Start with your 15 mg and work up. The first time I ever used MS, I was doing 30 mg hits and did four over the course of several hours. I was _very_ ill (as in puking and nodding) but I didn't die. Your tolerance may vary. ================================================================ From: nowhere@erehwon.net (nobody) Subject: Re: morphine injections Date: 1995/07/10 newsgroups: alt.drugs,alt.drugs.hard >> Does it matter where the morhpine is injected? i.e. into the >>vein or into the muscle. > >No. My preference would be for IV, but watch out for those >damned itches. :) I love(ed) histamine release. I thought more people would feel the same way, but the fellow running the Swiss prescribing experiment told us that their was very little demand for morphine. Seriously though, why inject at all?? Regular IV use is a unhealthy practice no matter how pure the substance and sterile the syringe. Mix your MS in some tasty liquid and be an "opium eater" instead. You'll be much better off. ================================================================== From: (Peter McDermott) Subject: Re: morphine injections Date: 1995/07/12 newsgroups: alt.drugs,alt.drugs.hard In article <3ttp5j$f8n@newsbf02.news.aol.com>, benderjd@aol.com (BENDERJD) wrote: >In article <3ts0ga$30k@park.interport.net>, nowhere@erehwon.net (nobody) >writes: > >> I love(ed) histamine release > >As a stoner I must know what this is. It's what causes the itch/burn in a morphine rush. When you shoot morphine, various parts of the body get very itchy -- typically, the palms of hands, soles of feet, asshole and face. Apparently, this is a histamine reaction, (though I don't know anything about the mechanism of action -- any ideas?) It can sometimes cause a small rash of white, raised bumps to break out on the skin -- often nowhere near the injection site, that disappears in an hour or two. In the UK, it was sometimes called 'mouse', but I don't know much about this either. ================================================================= From: (Steve Dyer) Subject: Re: morphine injections Date: 1995/07/10 newsgroups: alt.drugs,alt.drugs.hard A typical strongly analgesic dose of morphine given parenterally (IV, IM or SC) to an adult is 10mg/70kg. Goodman and Gilman quotes older literature which suggests that "in a normal, pain-free adult, serious toxicity or death is unlikely to follow 120mg orally or 30mg parenterally." However, even if you avoid "serious toxicity", you're still open to feeling terrible from taking too much, even if it's too little to put your life in jeopardy. So if you must do this, I would err on the conservative side. The feeling that an opiate gives an opiate-naive person is not necessarily pleasurable the first time. I don't recommend the injection of street drugs, and I think anyone who would experiment with even something like pharmaceutical grade morphine is being foolhardy, but I also believe that people should have reliable information at hand to ensure they don't kill themselves. Also, don't share or reuse needles, do remember to use a sterile technique, yadda-yadda. -- Steve Dyer
