I used to be a regular pot smoker/acid muncher and vowed to stay away from the harder drugs in general and stayed true to this for the most part. I very seldom do any drugs these days, but last Christmas I had an encounter with cocaine and a couple of buddies. This was the first time I had really done any quantity of coke for the most part. (I had tried it before this years before, but mostly a 1/4 gram between me and another dude, over a full evening) Anyways, at X-Mas between the 3 of us we did what I was told was an 8-ball. We started at around 8PM with a couple hits each on a cigarette in the car. Afterwhich we went to the bar for maybe an 1/2 hour (drank 1-2 drinks), and decided to dig in to the blow a bit more, so we left to another buddies place. He was'nt at home when we got there, but this did'nt slow us down as his house is unlocked. (most of this is happening in a rural Canadian setting) From this point onwards we 'cooked' the coke with baking soda to make it into crack. (approximately 1 part coke to 1 part baking soda on a spoon, generous helpings of water then a lighter carefully applied to the spoon while a metal knife was used to stir and congeal the coke into a rock) We smoked a bit there for about 1/2 - 1 hour, as far as I can remember. :-) After this we went home and _really_ started to get serious with this stuff. I'd say from 9PM to 6AM the next morning we smoked the stuff non-stop. The buzz I was having was like a serious body stone, but not really numbing. Every time I took a hit, it felt like my head would explode, or as if my consciousness was floating above the top of my head. This lasted for about (trying to remember back) 1-3 minutes and subsided after that. Then after about 5-10 minutes after the initial all one could think about was doing another hit! To answer you question, at 6AM we finally finished the lot up (roughly 9 hours of whacky fun) and stumbled back home. The walk was short, and very quiet in this rural town of about 500 people, but let me tell you we were most paranoid. As it was X-Mas and in Canada, (last year was a _really_ cold one - like minus 28'C) I noticed the crisp cold air while we walked and this solidified to me how stoned I really was. When I tried to go to sleep, I felt like I could'nt and all the while I was laying on the bed (in a room by myself with the door closed), I kept hearing voices in my head! It was driving me nuts!!! I tossed and turned and really could'nt sleep and I kept hearing people in the other room talking about me! After a few hours of this I tried to go into the kitchen and take some aspirins for my aching head; after asking my buddy where he kept them, (they we in the cupboard behind some other stuff) I proceeded to look for them. I must of looked for about 20 seconds and then gave up. I was so bummed out that I felt like I could'nt make the effort to even reach my hand up and root around in the cupboard for them. I went back to bed. We slept/rested like this from I'd say 7AM to 7PM the next night (12 hours of the absolute worst sleep I ever had), and afterwards I felt weird and burnt-out for a couple days! My feeling of this first time I did coke (I have'nt done any since) is that the burn-out is too great to outweighed the short, kick-ass highs. I know that doing 1.1 grams of crack for a first time try of cocaine was a definite borderline overdose for me. (8-ball is 3.5 grams / 3 people = 1.16~ grams each) I had fun, but my body was'nt used to this and paid me back for it in the long run.
