Examples of Simple Divination

A man has not seen his love in more than a week, and it is causing him concern.  He speaks her name and tosses the runestones; they reveal a rainbow rune and a joy rune.  Knowing that his love is a great scholar, he deduces from the combination of intellect (the rainbow rune) and gain (the joy rune) that she has been preoccupied with her studies-- a reason for some concern, but certainly not as alarming as many other options.

A woman feels uneasy; she cannot put her finger upon the cause, but she feels restless and unsettled with her life.  When she tosses the runestones, they reveal a shrouded sun and a joy rune.  Prodded by the runes, she remembers a time when she deceived her lover, and understands that this is preying upon her subconscious; only latecome honesty will release her from her burden.

A healer seeks to earn the esteem of her fellow companions, and asks the runestones how she may earn the respect she somehow lacks.  The runestones reveal a snowflake rune and a protection rune.  Upon considering the matter, she interprets the runes as advising her to be more charitable towards the dead who fall into her care; from long habit, she treats them as simply ways to learn, rather than granting them their dignity, and she recognizes from the advice of the runes that this was an error.
