Translating the Elanthian Calendar

Interestingly enough, GemStone III has its own calendar.  Fortunately, unlike DragonRealms, a GemStone III day is the same length as a real life day.  (DragonRealms days, for those of you unfamiliar with the second version of Elanthia, are staggered to give a day/night cycle during the real day, which makes life extremely confusing at times.)  Since those who designed the Elanthian calendar for GemStone III designed it so that things could be readily transposed between real life and the game, following the GemStone Elanthian Calendar is not too difficult.

Years
To find the current year in GemStone, take the current year and add 3100.  Thus, 1999 is 5099, 2000 is 5100, 2001 is 5101, and so forth.

Months
January - Lormesta
February - Fashanos
March - Charlatos
April - Olaesta
May - Ivastaen
June - Lumnea
July - Koaratos
August - Phoenatos
September - Imaerasta
October - Jastatos
November - Eoantos
December - Eorgaen

These are Tanager's player's tricks for remembering which GemStone month goes with which real-life month.  These will probably help more if you (like me) know far too much about the Elanthian gods and goddesses, as each month honors a different deity.

Lormesta: Lorminstra is the winter goddess of rebirth, so it makes sense that she would preside over the rebirth of the year.
Fashanos: Starts with F, like February.
Charlatos: When Charl stirs up the empire, armies go marching through the lands.
Olaesta: Oleani is a goddess of spring, and April's the first spring month that isn't totally mud.
Ivastaen: April showers bring May flowers; April weddings bring May affairs, and this makes Ivas happy.
Lumnea: Lumnea is right in front of Koaratos, like Lumnis's wisdom preceding Koar's rule.
Koaratos: July is at the height of the year; Koar's temple is at the height of the world.
Phoenatos: Oh those horrible August summers, with all that sweltering sun!  ...and Phoen is the sun god.
Imaerasta: Imaera is the goddess of autumn, and September is the first month of autumn.
Jastatos: The Eve of the Reunion (All Hallows Eve) is a holiday of ghosts, and Jastev is first honored in Voln at the graveyard gate.
Eoantos: The two Eo- months are next to each other.  (I have no idea why November is Eonak's month.)
Eorgaen: Eorgina's month is the death of the year.

Days of the week
Volnes - Monday
Tilamaires - Tuesday
Leyan - Wednesday
Niiman - Thursday
Day of the Huntress - Friday
Feastday - Sunday
Restday - Sunday

I have no tricks for remembering the days of the week; save Feastday and Restday, they don't make very much sense to me, unlike the days of the year.  I don't see why the days of the week were chosen to honor a group of minor deities-- after all, these are not full Arkati, but overgrown spirits of one sort or another.  (The Huntress possibly aside... or possibly not.)  Besides, if the word Niiman is mentioned, everyone's certain it refers to the arrival of a specific merchant.  I try to stick with "one day hence", "three days hence", or using the date.  (This is the opinion of Tanager's player rather than Tanager.  I'm not sure Tanager's ever given it a thought, as all the names normally given to the Elanthian gods are a bit odd to her.)

Holidays
Fashanos 14: Day of Voaris and Laethe  (corresponds to Valentine's Day)
Oleasta 1: Day of Zelia's Warning (corresponds to April Fool's Day)
Ivastaen 1: Day of Kuon's Blessing (corresponds to Mayday)
Ivastaen 20: Festival of Oleani (the only correspondence I know of must be an accident, and you can write me if you're curious enough, but I won't list it here)
Koaratos 14: Cholen's Eve (summer solstice)
Jastatos 31: Eve of the Reunion (corresponds to Halloween)
Eorgaen 20-25: Feast of the Immortals (corresponds to the winter holiday of your preference)
Eorgaen 25: Thrakmas (not an official Simutronics holiday, but people wish you a merry Thrakmas far more often than anything else)
