Punishment according to the present legal system is extremely lenient. In Hong Kong, the maximum penalty for murder is life imprisonment. And in most probability, he will be free in 10 to 15 years. Likewise for many other crimes.
Hence we have the impression that breaking law isn't a great matter.
But it is not so with LORD, who is TRUTH.
Jesus taught us, "Let what you say be simply Yes or No; anything more than this comes from evil." [Mt 5:37] Why Jesus taught us thus ? Because TRUTH cannot tolerate falsehood. And eternal life could not be in a person who is not absolutely honest, where falsehood comes from his mouth occasionally.
Ananias and his wife lied to Peter, and were put to death by LORD. [Act 5:1-11]
Nebuchadnezzar killed Ahab, son of Kolaiah, and Zedekiah, son of Maaseiah, by roasting them in fire. This was from the LORD, as LORD :
" .. concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall slay them before your eyes. Because of them this curse shall be used by all the exiles from Judah in Babylon : 'The LORD make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,' because they have committed folly in Israel, they have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and they have spoken in my name lying words which I did not command them. I am the one who knows, and I am witness, says the LORD."
[Jer 29:20-23]
Pilate wanted to release Jesus, because Jesus committed no crime punishable by death, according to Roman's Laws.
So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of this man's blood; see to it yourselves." And all the people answered, "His blood be on us and on our children!"
[Mt 27:24-25]
LORD punished the Israelites by allowing the Romans to destroy them and disperse them. And Israelites were in exile for more than 1945 years.
Hilter killed the Israelites by millions. But it was LORD who allowed this to happen, as LORD, who is TRUTH, sees sin not as our government officials do.
If LORD is able to punish the Israelites 1945 years, could He not be able to punish Satan and his angels and the wicked, eternally ?
During Jesus' time, Pilate killed some Israelites and used their blood in sacrifices, and people told Jesus. And Jesus said :
"Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered thus? I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish."
[Mt 13:1-5]
People should observe LORD's Law, and do not things LORD disapproves, and repent.
Also some people see the Secret Alliance (those who join for power and mutual gain, and would throw away justice/fairness/humanities to achieve that) coming, and try to counter this using their own ways.
Or some sees the threat of communism, and try to counter that using their own means.
Or some would think they are doing good to the society, and gang together to do something.
I hope they would deepen their understanding of LORD, who LORD is?
Look at the stars, the animals, the fish, the plant, the birds .... all these billions of things created by LORD.
The LORD could create all these things just but words from His mouth, would He not be able to kill all the wicked instantly?
Your own sin is your enemy, not from outside.
If you continue to do things in the DARK, and would do things prohibited by LORD's Law, and would not repent of your own sin, but put the blame on outside forces, you will be destroyed one day.
