There are ample warnings from LORD in the Bible,

LORD : "If a person turns to mediums and wizards, playing the harlot after them, I will set my face against that person, and will cut him off from among his people." LORD : "Do not turn to mediums or wizards; do not seek them out, to be defiled by them : I am Jehovah your God." LORD : "A man or a woman who is a medium or a wizard shall be put to death; they shall be stoned with stones, their blood shall be upon them." Moses : "There shall not be found with thee any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one that useth divination, one that practiseth augury, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whosoever doeth these things is an abomination unto Jehovah: and because of these abominations Jehovah thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with Jehovah thy God. For these nations, that thou shalt dispossess, hearken unto them that practise augury, and unto diviners; but as for thee, Jehovah thy God hath not suffered thee so to do." |
Many Native Americans and Mayans of old practised human sacrifices. The bodies of small girls who were used in human sacrifices were found at the top of mountains in Peru. Even today, in Peru, there are people who use the heart of llama, and that must be a beating heart, fresh from the kill, in sacrifices to their gods.
Isabella Bird (1831-1904) travelled to Hawaii, and she has written a book "Six Months in Hawaii". She described, on p.155, human sacrifices practiced among the Hawaiians in times of old,

Isabella : In dreadful contrast to this place of mercy (Note : refugee cities for people to flee to), there were some very large heiaus (or temples) here, on whose hideous altars eighty human sacrifices are said to have been offered at one time. One of the legends told me concerning this lovely valley is, that King Umi, having vanquished the kings of the six divisions of Hawaii, was sacrificing captives in one of these heiaus, when the voice of his god, Kuahilo, was heard from the clouds, demanding more slaughter. Fresh human blood streamed from the altars, but the insatiable demon continued to call for more, till Umi had sacrificed all the captives and all his own men but one, whom he at first refused to give up, as he was a great favourite, but Kuahilo thundered from heaven, till the favourite warrior was slain, and only the king and the sacrificing priest remained. |
LORD looks on virtues -- virtuous people who walk carefully in His Laws/Commandments are blessed; LORD does not look on the things you offer to Him, much less the blood of your own children (which is plain MURDER against the weak). Therefore the Canaanites were completely annihilated during Exodus of Israelites, because the Canaanites practised sacrifices of their children. Also the Native Americans were killed by thousands by LORD, when the West entered America, also for the same reason.
Jehovah is the only GOD and the sole creator of everything. Jehovah is also known to the Native Americans as The Great Spirit. Jehovah has also created numerous angels to help Him manage the world -- there are angels who are responsible for the trees, there are angels who are responsible for rain/wind, there are angels who are responsible for the animals, there are angels who are responsible for blessing those who keep the laws, and there are angels who are responsible for cursing those who break the laws, ....
Just as there are good people and bad people, there are bad angels -- angels who simply refuse to submit themselves to Jehovah's authority, and rebel against Jehovah. Those bad angels retain their "power", which is similar to the "power" of the good angels. Therefore many people are beguiled by those powers, or fear them to appease them by worshipping them. Yet nothing will happen without Jehovah's approval, therefore fear not the evil spirits.
Jehovah taught us plainly in the first of the Ten Commandments that we should worship no god other than Him. We are NOT to worship even the good angels of LORD, because they are CREATED by Jehovah. (Note : I use LORD, Jehovah, ... interchangeably.)
People who worship "gods" worship those rebellious angels. And those who worship them will incur for themselves great punishment, because those angels have no regard for the Laws/Commandments of LORD, and those who follow those angels would sure break the laws/commandments to their great hurt.
Indians, be wise enough to desist. Seek no more mystic things, nor worship the "gods". You should worship only one, Jehovah, The Great Spirit.
If you listen not, and seek the "mystic" and worship "gods", you will be slaughtered by Jehovah, The Great Spirit, just as He slaughtered your forefathers who did those sins.
