On HOLY SPIRIT (3)
Will the HOLY SPIRIT leave us ?

GOD gives every person who truly repents and believes in His son Jesus a new heart, a new spirit, the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD.

As I have said before in the article "On HOLY SPIRIT (1)", this HOLY SPIRIT is only a seed, a good seed and not the bad seed inherited from Adam.

Yet you have to nourish this seed to make it grow into a tree, and to bear fruit. The method is "hunger and thirst after righteousness", because Jesus said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled by the Holy Spirit."

The question is : could GOD take the HOLY SPIRIT back ? and will He do so ?

The answer is Yes. An example being Saul. When LORD first chose Saul to be king over Israel, GOD gave him a new heart [1 Samuel 10:9],

When he (Saul) turned his back to leave Samuel, God gave him another heart; and all these signs came to pass that day. [1 Samuel 10:9]

But later Saul sinned and even murdered the priests of the LORD, the spirit of GOD left him, and an evil spirit from GOD tormented him, [1 Sam 16:14]

Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him. [1 Sam 16:14]

Not only could LORD take back His Spirit from us, He can even kill us and send us to Hell if we sin high-handedly,

LORD : "But if a wicked man turns away from all his sins which he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness which he has done he shall live. Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Lord GOD, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live?

When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity and does the same abominable things that the wicked man does, shall he live? None of the righteous deeds which he has done shall be remembered; for the treachery of which he is guilty and the sin he has committed, he shall die." [Ezekiel 18:21-24]

LORD : "If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, and if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will repent of the evil that I intended to do to it. And if at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will build and plant it, and if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will repent of the good which I had intended to do to it." [Jeremiah 18:7-10]

Author of [Book of Hebrew] : "For if we sin deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful prospect of judgment, and a fury of fire which will consume the adversaries.

A man who has violated the law of Moses dies without mercy at the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by the man who has spurned the Son of God, and profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and outraged the Spirit of grace?

For we know him who said, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay.' And again, 'The Lord will judge his people.' It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." [Hebrew 10:26-31]

Therefore no one can be sure of all things, say, we will have the spirit of LORD forever, because temptations abound in this world, and ALL are fallible, including you and me.

Not only so, even if we stop to learn and walk GOD and Jesus' teachings, what GOD has given He will take back, [Mt 13:12]

Jesus : "For to him who has will more be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away." [Mt 13:12]

Are we to lose heart then ? No. Because GOD had been human before -- Jesus was GOD in human flesh. He is merciful and would NOT be fault-finding nor condemn the guiltless.

I have been a Christian since 1966, and I have been under constant persecution, even up to today (and will be in the future too), yet I can testify that what Jesus' had said : "For my yoke is EASY, and my burden is light." [Mt 11:30] is indeed true. Click to read my post below for more details on being a Christian.

Jesus : "Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven" -- a message GOD also gave to ancient China
