Meaning of Feast of Passover

LORD taught us to rest 1 day every 6 days, 1 week every 6 months, 1 year every 6 years, 2 consecutive years every 50 years.

LORD also taught the female to rest 7 days at menstruation, 40 days after giving birth to a boy, and 80 days after giving birth to a girl. [Lev 12].

(NOTE : Many working women would not rest at menstruation, would only rest a few days after giving birth, because they have not heard of LORD's teachings. If you would give heed to LORD, you should make remedy. e.g. If you have given birth to a boy and a girl, then your rest should be 40 + 80 = 120 days = 4 months. Discuss it frankly with your marriage partner, with your family members, and with your boss, whether he would be willing to give you leave of 4 months (suspend pay), or 2 months in the following 2 years.)

A car needs replacement parts, so is our body. We need rest so that our body can repair itself. Continuous working without rest will wear out our body parts, and we will become sick.

Feast of Passover is from 14th day to the 21st day (lunar Calendar, which is the week after full moon) of the first month.

LORD taught us not to appear before Him empty-handed [Ex 23:15]. What we have earned in 6 months, we should not spend all the money ourselves, but use some towards the poor and needy, the orphans and widows. We should buy nutritous food and invite them to our house to have a joyous time together.

Most important of all is to remember our Lord Jesus, who was so humble and meek, and was so obedient to the will of LORD, to give up his life on the cross. The present world is a difficult world for Christians, and very often, we are tempted to take vengeance with our own hand, and forget Jesus teachings of "bear the cross to follow him every day" [Luke 9:23].

Remember brother Peter's words about Lord : "... because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He committed no sin; no guile was found on his lips. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he trusted to him who judges justly. " [1 Peter 2:21-23]

LORD set up many angels to oversee every matters in this Universe (the rise and fall of kingdoms, human, animal, plants, rain, the sun, which is a huge, huge nuclear power plant, ....) Thus there are angels to administer justice on Earth according to LORD's Laws. But if we are to take vengeance with our own hand, we break LORD's Laws too, and we too will be punished.

Brother Enoch (who lived 365 years and did not taste death) taught us also : " Endure for the sake of the Lord every wound, every injury, every evil word and attack. If ill-requitals befall you, return them not either to neighbour or enemy, because the Lord will return them for you and be your avenger on the day of great judgment, that there be no avenging here among men." [Book of Enoch 50:4-5]

Lord Jesus' word about recompense : "Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you." [Mt 5:11] (NOTE : LORD may give us "software", "talents" as recompense !)

Thus every year we remember Lord Jesus, and remember the importance of "patient endurance, endure to the end, obedient to LORD's and Lord's teachings onto death".

There are minor points to observe during this festival , e.g. "do not eat any of it raw or boiled with water, but roasted, its head with its legs and its inner parts. And you shall let none of it remain until the morning, ..." [Ex 12:9] "In one house shall it be eaten; you shall not carry forth any of the flesh outside the house; and you shall not break a bone of it." [Ex 12:46].

My understanding of this is (it may be wrong, and be free to point out my errors) that we should keep it SIMPLE, and observe SAFETY. If we are to cook many dishes, each with elaborate preparation, and to take the food to our neighbors instead of inviting them to our house, we would be so tired out that we attempt once, and will not do it again. But the festival is meant to be a time of rest for us, and a time to eat more food to restore our energy.
