Jesus our Model(This is a series of essays on various teachings of LORD/Jesus other than Sermon on the Mount, and on how Jesus lived his life on Earth.) |
Jesus : Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will know them by their fruits. [Mt 7:15-20]
Jesus : Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber; but he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. [John 10:1-2]
(Note : LORD and Jesus LORD would always use "proper, lawful,
exposable to light" way to do things. "lawless,
not proper , in the dark" must be from demons.
[John
10:1] and [Mt 7:15-18] are the two most effective ways to
recognize evil men, as well as demons who pretend to be
GOD.)
(Note : Lord Jesus taught us to beware of miracles/might :
Jesus : For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. Lo, I have told you beforehand. [Mt 24:24-25]
John (a disciple of Jesus) : Then I saw another beast which rose out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed. It works great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in the sight of men; and by the signs which it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast, it deceives those who dwell on earth, bidding them make an image for the beast which was wounded by the sword and yet lived; and it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast so that the image of the beast should even speak, and to cause those who will not worship the image of the beast to be slain. [Rev 13:11-15]
LORD : I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in my name, saying, 'I have dreamed, I have dreamed!' How long shall there be lies in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies, and who prophesy the deceit of their own heart, who think to make my people forget my name by their dreams which they tell one another, even as their fathers forgot my name for Baal? Let the prophet who has a dream tell the dream, but let him who has my word speak my word faithfully." [Jer 23:25-28]
(Note : It is unfortunate that many people in the Bible dreamed, e.g. Joseph [Gen 37], Pharoah's officers [Gen 40], ..., and their dreams came true! But dreams may come from LORD, and also may come from Satan. Job had terrible experience with dreams,
[Job 7:2-15] "Has not man a hard service upon earth, and are not his days like the days of a hireling? Like a slave who longs for the shadow, and like a hireling who looks for his wages, so I am allotted months of emptiness, and nights of misery are apportioned to me. When I lie down I say, 'When shall I arise?' But the night is long, and I am full of tossing till the dawn .... When I say, 'My bed will comfort me, my couch will ease my complaint,' then thou dost scare me with dreams and terrify me with visions, so that I would choose strangling and death rather than my bones. ...Therefore our plumb-line should be the words of LORD/Jesus and not dreams.
Isiah (a prophet of ancient Israel) : And when they say to you, "Consult the mediums and the wizards who chirp and mutter," should not a people consult their GOD? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? To the teaching and to the testimony! surely for this word which they speak there is no dawn. They will pass through the land, greatly distressed and hungry; and when they are hungry, they will be enraged and will curse their king and their GOD, .... [Is 8:19-22]
(Note : Isiah also taught us to rely on LORD's teachings. The criteria I use is "TRUTH AND TRUTH ONLY. WHAT IS RIGHT (IN THE SIGHT OF LORD) AND NOT WHO IS RIGHT")
Moses' (word to ancient Israelites, but true to us too) : There shall not be found among you any one who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, any one who practises divination, a soothsayer, or an augur, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a medium, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD; and because of these abominable practices the LORD your GOD is driving them out before you. You shall be blameless before the LORD your GOD. For these nations, which you are about to dispossess, give heed to soothsayers and to diviners; but as for you, the LORD your GOD has not allowed you so to do. [Deut 18:9-14]
LORD : If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, and if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will repent of the evil that I intended to do to it. And if at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will build and plant it, and if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will repent of the good which I had intended to do to it. [Jer 18:7-10]
(Note : thus it may be seen that there is no "fortune" nor "destiny". Our future is in our own hands.)
