The 2005 Reunion of the Swetland Family Association

This is information and pictures are from the 2005 Swetland Family Association Reunion at Ludlow, MA.

Agenda from the 2005 Reunion of the Swetland Family Association

The 2005 SFA Reunion was held near Springfield, Massachusetts at Miller Memorial Park.  The last time the SFA held a reunion here was 15 years ago, in 1990.

The 2005 Swetland Family Association Reunion was held the weekend of July 22, 23, and 24 near Ludlow, MA.  This is to the east side of Springfield, MA.  A get-together on the afternoon of Friday, July 22 went off well, where we met and greeted one another and caught-up on all that has happened in our lives since our last Reunion in 2003.  This was an enjoyable dinner followed by splendid riverboat cruise with Lady Bea Charters, “On the Banks of the Connecticut River”, South Hadley, MA.  See their site for details on what they had to offer us at www.brunelles.com.

On Saturday, July 23 we held our business meeting and informative discussions.  Virginia Miller and her sisters invited us to their pavilion at Miller Park.  See the agenda to the right for the schedule of events.

Later that day we met at the Comfort Inn, Ludlow for more fellowship and exchange of pictures from earlier in the day.  Addresses and e-mail addresses were shared and exchanged along with the final good-byes and thank-yous that always end another SFA Reunion.

Sunday, July 24 found most attendees heading back to our busy lives in anticipation of our next Swetland Family Association Reunion.

As a matter or record for future reference as needed:

Accommodation arrangements had been made at the Comfort Inn, 321 Center Street, Ludlow, MA 01056.  Group Room Rates for the Swetland Family Association are in the range of $93 to $110 per night.  This may seem high to some folks but this is a high tourist area during the summer with a Six Flags amusement park nearby that drives the costs up.  There are other hotels in the area that may be a bit of a further drive that have lower rates.  If you are into camping or RV’ing, there are several nice camping and camper places in the area as well.  This is the beautiful, historic New England area and things are not as far apart as they may seem.  (You can’t compare Rhode Island and Texas on the same scale when they both fit on the same size map.)

A short drive to New London and Mystic, CT brings to you the quaint beauty of Early America, places of history (the library of New London could consume you for several days), and yet is dotted with the modern conveniences of shopping malls, highways, and a very nice Aquarium that would be worthy of a stop-by for anyone of any age.
