Reunions of the Swetland Family Association

Update !!

The 2009 SFA Reunion is planned!

You don’t have to have the Sweetland, Swetland, or Sweatland name to attend.  Just have an interest in family history, genealogy, and early life of the colonial settler and sailor, although our focus will be on Swe(e)/(a)tlands.

We have planned for the New London Connecticut area.  Items of interest on our list are of the following:

·        Public Library of New London (Geanaology)

·        Ye Antientist Burial Ground (Family History)

·        Joshua Hempstead house (Family History  & Colonial Life)

·        A Maritime Tour  (Early Swe(e)/(a)tlands and colonialist on the Seas)

Please go to the reunion page for the 2009 SFA Reunion and be sure to print out and send in your Reunion form and payment for the meeting and luncheon  !!  Also stop by the Message Board and share your thoughts on the reunion and things you would like us to focus on or special needs you may have.

Popular Locations of the SFA Reunions

The Swetland Family Association is planning to meet again in July 2009.

The location that was discussed at the 2007 Reunion and decided upon for the 2009 Reunion is New London, CT.

IMPORTANT:  Please contact the SFA Treasurer, Priscilla Swetland, in regards to your attendance.  She will need your name, the number of people in your party, and the names of those in the party.  Be sure to contact the hotel or make other arrangements for you stay for the dates you plan to attend.

Until then, be sure to mark your calendars for the Reunion.  And plan ahead for it now so you can be sure to attend when the time comes.  New attendees are always welcome!!!

Undoubtedly the most common location in years past has been at the Swetland Homestead in Forty Fort, PA of the Wyoming Valley.

Other sites have been Williamsport, PA; Tunkhannock, PA (with trip to Swetland Pond at Lawton, PA); Chicopee, MA; Olean, NY; and Providence, RI to name a few.

Reader Participation:

Where would you like to have the future Reunions?  Is there Swetland history in the area?  Is there other information or history in the area that you believe would be interesting to other Swe(e)/(a)tlands?  Let us know!!

Send in your ideas to the SFA President or Vice President or voice your opinions on the SFA Message Board.
