Dream
Comes True For InFOCUS!
(L - R) InFocus's ALAN with Shane Filan, KEITH, PETER and JAMIE alongside Bryan McFadden and Nicky Byrne It was a great moment for the
members of Dublin boy band InFOCUS when they finally got a chance to meet up with their
idols Westlife at the Rose of Tralee Festival earlier this week. Being huge fans of the band,
InFOCUS are used to the parallels often being drawn between themselves and Westlife. InFOCUS, similar to Westlife
comprises of three original members (19 year olds Peter O'Shaughnessy, Keith Conroy and
Jamie McDaid) who formed the band themselves. Two new members were found
during auditions as with Westlife, namely James Feeney from none other than SLIGO and Alan
Hendrick from ARTANE whose older brother was in the same class at school as Bryan McFadden
also from Artane. InFOCUS member Keith Conroy
enjoyed success on the soccer pitch before entering the pop world - reaching the All
Ireland with Tolka Rovers - similar to Westlife's Nicky Byrne who played with Home Farm
before moving to Leeds Football Club. InFOCUS were in Tralee to headline
two days of performances at Nickelodeon TV's 'Red Hot Lobster Tour' as part of the Rose of
Tralee Festival. Tuesday night, the guys performed their own one hour show on
the Guinness Gig Rig to a massive crowd in the main Town Square exactly where Westlife
performed two years previously. However, pop guru and Westlife's
manager Louis Walsh, having met and spoken to the boys of InFOCUS said "There was
absolutely no reason why InFOCUS should not have been on the Denny Street Concert Stage
supporting Westlife." This weekend, 2nd and 3rd September sees InFOCUS once more back in Belfast for two days where they headline the prestigious Millennium Laganside Festival. Article and pic Courtesy of John Pickering
