WILKINS PEAK TRAIL

Difficulty level : intermediate to advanced
Elevation gain/drop : 2994 ft. / 1436 ft.     (min. elev. 6056  max. elev.
7614 )
Distance covered : loop trail is approximately 26 miles. 13 miles to the
peak.

This trail actually starts out at the red archery barn at Scott Bottoms
nature area on the main dirt road. This road started out as a Forest Service
access road and is well traveled most of the year but not necessarily well
maintained. Head up hill for a little over a mile before heading back down
towards the river bottoms where it will wind its way back up hill near the
river and snaking up to the ridge where the road splits north and south.
Head north, staying on the main road passing the fork to the right leading
to highway 191, and head for the peak. You can head straight for the peak
for the view and return to Green River on the same road or turn right just
below the last climb to the peak and catch the Ridgeline Trail back to Green
River completing the 'loop'.
