2. Argus Aaron² Benham (John¹) was born in Elkhart, Elkhart County, Indiana 11 January 1868. Argus died 20 December 1947 in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at 79 years of age. His body was interred 23 December 1947 in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, Greenwood Cemetery.

He married Mary Ida Sherwood in Bernadotte, Fulton County, Illinois, 28 January 1897. Mary was born in Smithfield, Fulton County, Illinois 1 June 1876. Mary was the daughter of Joseph William Sherwood and Rosannah Anne Nickerson. Mary died 10 October 1960 in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at 84 years of age. Her body was interred 13 October 1960 in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, Greenwood Cemetery.

George died January 1978 in Fulton County, Illinois, at 77 years of age.

5 iii. Garnet Carmen Benham was born in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois 9 May 1899. Garnet died 29 March 1974 in Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin, at 74 years of age. She married Walter W. Herring. Walter was born in Fulton County, Illinois 21 January 1899. Walter died 19 August 1952 at 53 years of age.

6 iv. Gordia Urith Benham was born 16 August 1901. Gordia died 11 October 1939 in Fulton County, Illinois, at 38 years of age. She married twice. She married Joseph Orval Ackerson. Joseph was born in Fulton County, Illinois 10 August 1886. Joseph was the son of Joseph Ackerson and Elizabeth Potts. Joseph died 26 Oct 1922 at 36 years of age. 7 v. Gordon Meredith Benham was born in Gilchrist, Fulton County, Illinois 13 October 1903. Gordon died 29 February 1956 in Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois, at 52 years of age. He married Elva Mabel White. Elva died 3 July 1971.

8 vi. Merle St. Elmo Sherwood Benham was born 6 March 1906. Merle died 28 November 1980 in Bushnell, McDonough County, Illinois, at 74 years of age.

9 vii. Coralee Mertis Benham was born in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois 30 July 1908. Coralee died 19 December 1958 in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, at 50 years of age. She married twice. She married Frank Daugherty. She married Sheldon Anderson. Sheldon was born in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois 30 July 1908. Sheldon died 19 December 1958 in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, at 50 years of age.

10 viii. John Joseph Benham was born in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois 10 August 1910. John died 16 November 1993 in Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois, at 83 years of age. Died at McDonough District Hospital.

11 ix. Charles Argus Benham was born 12 December 1912. Charles died 22 April 1984 in Marietta, Fulton County, Illinois, at 71 years of age. He married Eliza A. Shaw. Eliza was born 20 July 1917. Eliza died 5 April 1978 at 60 years of age.

12 x. Marybelle Alice Benham was born in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois 28 January 1920. Marybelle died 28 August 1960 in Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois, at 40 years of age. She married unknown Carley.
