Dan's Eclectic Library
Genealogy
I'm currently working on genealogical research with my wife, Tammy. I've taken the information that we currently have and made it available through this page. The information here was last updated on August 25th 2003 and reflects the contents of my database at that time. If you have bookmarked a page or otherwise linked to a page that is no longer where it used to be, please accept my apologies. The changes to my database necessitate changes to the page structures.
I hope that those who have up-to-date information to correct or add to what I have here will contact me with their revisions, updates, and corrections. I'm aware of several areas of questionable information that I currently have. I'm doing what I can to track down the correct information from reliable sources. All assistance is greatly appreciated. If you would like to contact me with comments, corrections, or additions, or if you would like your personal information removed from this site please:
I've met several family members online whom I never knew about. They've all been very helpful with my research. Besides that, it's always wonderful to talk with more people from our families.
There are currently 2440 individuals in my genealogical database. The primary family names in my information include the following (followed by the number of individuals bearing that surname): Tekulve [Te Kuelve, Te Kulve] (216), Childers (144), Pickering (129), unknown (56), Nelson (53), Hudson (50), Hoots (41), Foote (39), Strode (37), Milliman (34), Smith (31), Robinson (29), Scarborough (29), Johnson (27), Saler (27), Ellis (25), Sherwood (21), Inman (20), Gray (19), Lewis (18), Suding (18), Wissell (18), Wenning (17), Workman (17), Anderson (16), Sandidge (16), McIntyre (15), Porter (15), Schroeder (15), Henson (14), Metz (14).
The primary geographic areas pertaining to my research in the United States include Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
The information here has been garnered primarily from family members and sources on the Internet. Our next step is to begin the arduous process of tracking down original documents so that verification can be made. This will certainly take quite some time, as well as a bit of expense.
I am constantly updating the database, but the web site updates are much more time-consuming, so I don't do them very often. There are over five hundred individual pages within the genealogical section of my site. I use Ultimate Family Tree as the database program for my family tree. This program is no longer produced or supported, but I still prefer it to others available. This program creates the web pages, but the format it uses does not quite fit the rest of my site. Thus, I must edit these pages to add the proper formatting. This takes quite a bit of time, but I like the results, as I hope you do.

This is a listing of the surnames, or family names, that are found within the information we've collected. Note that family names are referenced only by way of the paternal links to their children (a function of our patrilineal society). We have 258 families currently listed. There are 656 surnames represented, but family groups are represented only by way of the surname being passed on to a successive generation.
This is a list of all the individuals found in our current database. If known, the dates of birth and death are also listed, as well as marriages. There are currently 2659 individuals listed from as early as about 742 c.e. to the present. The listing is arranged alphabetically by the person's surname. Please note that this is a large file (314k) and may take a while to download.
I have added this page to provide news regarding my genalogical research. I will use this space to let you know about updates to my web site, major changes to my database, etc.
This page is the full text (and photos!) of our handfasting ceremony. Tammy and I were married in a traditional handfasting ceremony on the 11th of July, 1998.
The amount of genealogical information available on the Internet is simply staggering. Unfortunately, much of this information is not readily verified. That's my next big step in our research. I've got to take the time (and a little expense) to track down official records so that I can more fully document my findings. It's not easy, but I find it rewarding.
