eclectic (e'-klek-tik) - 1adj. 1 : selecting what appears to be best in various doctrines, methods or styles 2 : composed of elements drawn from various sources - 2noun one who uses an eclectic method or approach

Why eclectic? Well, it seems to fit me in many ways. I've never been one to be satisfied with any whole package. I pick and choose what seems best to me. I don't presume to know what might be right for anyone but myself. Each of us must find their own path, and their own place in this world. My interests are wide, and I try to keep an open mind. This web site might end up seeming quite a hodge-podge of unrelated material, but that's just how I am.

The navigational links on each page will take you to various pages that I've put together to highlight some of my interests. The information there may or may not be of use or interest to anyone but myself. So be it.

I am currently working on genealogical research with my wife, Tammy. I invite you to take a look at the results of our research. It's a wonderful hobby. Sometimes it seems easy, sometimes frustrating, but it's enjoyable for us. I've received email from many relatives, of whom I never knew anything. That's one of the most rewarding parts of my research.

I've been working on a small web site traffic analysis program. I decided to call it SiteInsight. It certainly wouldn't be useful to anyone who has access to their server log files, but could be helpful for those of us who have a small site such as this one, and wish to have an idea of how many people are visiting and where they're coming from.

I don't really think it's ready for public release yet, but in the near future I should have a version that people can put to use. Until then, I have a page that describes the program and let's you look at the statistics of this site.

If you'd like to contact me for some reason, clicking the link above will open your email client so that you can drop me a line. My address is obfuscated in the HTML source code using JavaScript. I do that to keep my address from being harvested by one of the many programs that crawl the web looking for addresses for spammers.

The Opera Web Browser

I use several web browsers to view projects while I work on them. The one I prefer to use for my own browsing is Opera. I recommend it to all of you who may have become a bit disheartened by the big-name browsers. And there's one feature that you're all sure to love: You can turn off the pop-up windows! No more annoying ads!
