5. Choosing the Message

A plaque or shield presented as an award usually comprises text that answers the following questions:

  • In what occasion is the award being given? ( Optional, it could be the name of an event)
  • Who is receiving the award? (i.e. the name and title of the awarded member)
  • Why is the award being awarded? (i.e. the purpose, usually contains words of praise expressed in a thank you message)
  • Who is giving the award? (i.e. the name of the awarding body)
  • When and where is the award being awarded? (i.e. the date and place, for the date at least the year should be mentioned)

Here's an example:

2004 (Event Name) Winners Awards

Presented to

(Title and name of recepient)

In recognition of

Outstanding managerial and leadership skills

(Company name)
Beirut, Lebanon
